Kuro-San
Daisy
KuDa is a combination of my cats’ names.
Kuro-San is my newest cat—well, we adopted him two years ago (2023). I’ve tried to train him to be an adventure cat, carefully following all the recommended steps from experienced people who travel with their cats. I did everything by the book.
He actually loves going outside… but only the front yard. It has to be completely quiet—no people, no cars. Even someone opening a garage door can startle him, and he’ll try to escape from his harness.
When I took him to a nearby trail, he enjoyed walking, which was encouraging. However, he absolutely hates the backpack. He refuses to go inside, he wouldn’t sit on top of it either. I often felt unsafe because whenever he spotted people—even far away—he would panic, pull the leash in every direction, and still refuse to hide in the backpack.
My other cat, Daisy, is similar. I actually trained her for longer (over a year) than Kuro-San. She’s afraid of sounds and people, but in the opposite way—she won’t come out of the backpack.
Yes! If you’re wondering, they’re wearing GPS collars mostly to track sleep and activity—not because they’re going out on adventures.
I guess I’m not meant to have adventure cats… so I created one…or two digitally instead.
To all the adventure cats out there—and the humans who take care of them—stay happy and safe. 🐾
